Ryanair cancelled flights crisis | FairPlane UK image

Following their announcement to cancel 40-50 flights every day up until 20 September, Ryanair is now coming under great pressure to publish a full list of the flights it plans to cancel over the next six weeks.

Ryanair customers have taken to social media in huge numbers to express their growing anger regarding the situation. Passengers are complaining that without knowing the full list of cancelled flights, they do not know if they will have to make alternative travel arrangements or not.

Marketing officer for Ryanair, Kenny Jacobs, has said that all affected customers with bookings up to 20 September had been informed.

Flight compensation

It is anticipated that the numbers of passengers affected by the cancellations could number as many as 400,000. Ryanair has suggested that all of them will be offered alternative flights or refunds.

Pilots poached

Amidst reports of staffing problems, a spokesman for Norwegian Air confirmed that 140 pilots had joined them from Ryanair this year. Ryanair have made no response to these claims so far.

As we reported yesterday, Ryanair had previously stated that a backlog of staff leave had been the catalyst for the cancellations.

Ryanair have said that they will continue to send regular updates and provide any new information regarding the planned cancelations on its website. The next set of cancellations is scheduled to be published on Monday.

Shares in Ryanair fell by up to 3% on Monday.
