Which airlines have the most flight delays? | FairPlane UK image

New research from consumer organisation Which? has revealed the airlines that have the worst record for late arrivals.

The worst culprits were Air Transat, Icelandair and Norwegian Air Shuttle with Air Transat being the worst offender. It was found that 45% of all flights landed more than 15 minutes outside of their planned arrival times.

In its defence a spokesperson for Montreal-based Air Transat claimed that “factors beyond our control such as weather and air traffic control” were the reason for many of the delays.

25% of flights delayed

850,000 flights at 25 UK airports were monitored in the study. It was found that on average only 75% of flights arrived on time.

The Dutch airline KLM came out best in the survey closely followed by Qatar Airways.

The other poor performers, Icelandair and Norwegian also blamed issues such as air traffic strikes and renovations at Reykjavik airport for their performances in the study.
