Civil Aviation Authority Forces Jet2 and Wizz Air to Pay out Flight Delay Compensation, FairPlane UK image

The CAA has finally managed to force Jet2 and Wizz Air to pay out flight delay compensation or cancelled flight compensation claims where the flight delay or cancellation was due to technical difficulties.

Up until now, despite Court of Appeal rulings that technical difficulties were not allowable excuses, both Jet2 and WIzz Air refused to pay out thousands of flight delay claims. The CAA has now forced both airlines to make these flight delay compensation payments including on a huge backlog of cases.

This is good news for all passengers delayed on Jet2 and Wizz Air flights.

Further good news is that Jet2 have admitted that they must pay for any flight delay compensation claims for flights up to 6 years old. This is in accordance with UK consumer law but Jet2 have been resisting this rule by attempting to rely on their terms and conditions.

Wizz Air continue to refuse to pay any flight delay claim over 2 years old so the CAA is referring them to the Hungarian Authority for Consumer Protection. We shall let you know what happens.
