Monarch Airlines Enters Administration | FairPlane UK image

Over 100,000 passengers have been left stranded overseas this morning following the collapse of Monarch Airlines.

The British airline was the oldest in operation until this morning when KPMG accountants announced it had entered into administration.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is stepping in to organise repatriation for thousands trying to get back to the UK. Around 30 planes will need to be chartered to carry out the operation. 300, 000 future bookings have also been cancelled.

Monarch customers currently out of the country have been contacted and told that they will be flown home at no extra cost and no trips will be cut short.

Those with future bookings that have been cancelled can find advice regarding refunds here - https://monarch.caa.co.uk/customers/i-have-a-future-booking-and-have-not-travelled-yet/

Monarch was founded in 1968 and had its headquarters are at London Luton airport. Flights took passengers to over 40 destinations worldwide.
