It is a common misunderstanding that you can only claim flight delay compensation from airlines where you booked your flight with them directly.

Holiday season is upon us and many people will have booked a complete holiday package with a package holiday company such as Thomsons and Thomas Cook.

When you book such package holidays, the price will of course include your flights and these are often with the package tour company’s own airline e.g. Thomas Cook Airlines or Thomsonfly.

If your flight is delayed for more than 3 hours on the way or on the way back from your package holiday, or if one of your flights is cancelled or re-routed, you are still entitled to receive delayed flight compensation even though you did not directly book the flight yourself but bought it as part of the holiday package.

Sometimes these package holiday flights are the worst for flight delays as the flights have to be slotted into the scheduled flights at airports. Also, flight crews and aircraft are overstretched at these busy times so flight delays or flight cancellations often occur.
