Oh no...you're on an overbooked flight | FairPlane UK image

Now that half the planet has seen the videos of a passenger being forcibly removed from a United Airlines flight this week, it seems more than timely that those thoughtful people at Cheatsheet.com have produced a guide to help you know what to do if you find yourself on an overbooked flight.

We're not sure if it's significance, but their list contains “22 Things You Should Do When You're on an Overbooked Flight”.

The chances are that no one will actually be manhandled, but of course it's a good idea to be prepared should the situation arise and to know what your options are.

The advice on this list is primarily written for people traveling in the US, but much of it will be of use to European travellers as well. Just be aware that figures mentioned and specific legal rights could be different.

Flight delay compensation

Flight delay compensation is something that the airline should discus with you of course, but if you feel like you're getting fobbed of with the offer of vouchers or even being told youre not enttled to receive anything, you can give us a call and we'll let you know what the airline should be paying out.

The compensation calculator on this website allows you to quickly answer this question if you have a few details about your flight to hand.
